COURSE DESCRIPTION

Topics

Carbon Neutral Design. Our departmental faculty has voted unanimously to adopt the Architecture 2010 Imperative. It demands that for each studio project "the design engage the environment in a way that dramatically reduces or eliminates the need for fossil fuel." With that in mind, the redesigns in your case studies should show evidence of carbon emission reduction.

The AIA has made a full commitment to Architecture2030 and has added a new canon for sustainable design and new language in official AIA contracts to provide sustainable design services. See http://www.aia.org/about/initiatives/AIAB079458?dvid=&recspec=AIAB079458.

The University of Idaho is proud to support the Professional Lighting Design Convention, PLDC 2013 as a Partner University. The biannual Convention, organized by VIA-Verlag, publisher of the PLD magazine, was created for the global lighting design market. Designers, lighting architects, researchers, universities, industry and clients use PLDC as a platform to meet, learn about the latest developments in lighting design, and discuss the future of the lighting profession. PLDC stands for high quality knowledge transfer and international networking opportunities.
