This check sheet should be used as a guide as to when courses should be taken. However, there are certain courses that are either pre-requisites for other courses, may be offered only once a year or there is a university policy that must be followed. In these cases you should plan on taking these courses in the semester they are listed. These courses are marked with an “*”.

  Notes:

  1. 1. Both Art 121 and Vtd 244 need to taken in the fall semester of the freshman year. Both of these courses are only offered in the fall semester and both are prerequisites for the spring semester design studio (Vtd 152 Introduction to Virtual Design.)
  2. CS 127 is preferably taken in the spring semester of the junior year, just prior to the semester when Vtd 372 Advanced Interactive is taken, but you could take it in the fall of your sophomore year. There are several CS 127 sections offered, but typically different programming languages are taught in each one. You will need the section that teaches Visual Basic. Visual Basic is the scripting language required to create object-oriented event-driven behaviors in the Vtd 372 class. An acceptable alternative to CS 127 is Bus 250 Introductory Systems Development that also teaches Visual Basic.
  3. Art 110, Art 111, Psyc 101 and Arch 386 will satisfy the Core Cluster (CC) requirements if you choose the Imagination into Form cluster.
  4. Program approved history course in Art, Architecture, Film, Theatre, Music or Media.
  5. Directed electives that allow a student to develop an emphasis area or breadth in a supporting subject area, with approval of VTD program.
